How do people say an office work is easy?

Everytime people bring up office work they act like their on eternal break barely doing any work.

So when I ended up taking an office job for work experience because its the only place that gave me a call back I thought it would be easy.

But its not. All day I'm answering phones, writing messages, writing emails, updating our offices information for my department, going to meetings where your expected to take notes the whole time.

I can't see how this is break time for so many people who say office work is the easiest job you could get. I've had work at retail stores that were easier then this and those are considered the true nightmare job especially for this time of year.

It's much easier sitting down all day than it is digging in fields. Office work is generally a 9-5, leave your job at work, little overtime, indoors, no manual labour. Compared to say a farmer or farrier who is outside on their feet, all weathers, digging, lifting etc it's easy.

Unless you get a job where the work is easy and simple, the team is large enough (or the work is sparce enough) that you are not rushed off your feet, you will be busy and working.

It’s easy in that it’s not manual labor. It sounds like your office job could be described as easy because it doesn’t require any special skills or advanced training. I don’t know anyone who describes “office jobs” (which, by the way, includes lots of jobs that are very different) as the easiest jobs you could get.

Office work is usually physically easier than many other jobs. But did you really think a company was going to throw away money paying you to just sit around and do nothing that's useful to them?

 Because all day you're doing easy stuff like answering phones, writing messages, writing emails, updating our offices information for your department, going to meetings where your expected to take notes the whole time. No hard maual labor in terrible weather conditions.

I've never heard of anyone saying office work is easy. "Everytime"t is overreaching at best.



In general, office work is physically less demanding than most other jobs.
