I cannot work today because i have to see my grandma who is very old and i haven't seen her in 15 years. I am only 18, and i really dont need my job. I want to quit, but my parents are making me still work. Today is an exception though, they asked me to take today off because they want me to see her. Should i even bother calling in, i work in 3 hours? I tried to find a replacement but i think he is off doing something because he is not scheduled to work today, but he told his parents that he works 12pm-5pm which is BS because its a tuesday and he normally has school at that time. So what do i do?

If you are going to skip work, have the common decency to call.

Call in, doesn't matter that it's only 3 hours you still have a responsibility to inform your employer that you won't be in. If your boss asks why, tell them that you have a chance to see your grandma that you haven't seen in 15 years. Offer to work on another day to make up for it, that might make your boss more willing to let you off the hook. And if you get canned, well, you said you don't need the job anyway.

Just call in first.

Always let your manager know that you're not coming in, it's standard protocol when you're working even if you only work 3 hours. If you don't it's very disrespectful and that goes for anywhere and anyone you will work for. You don't want to have a bad relationship with your employers because if you try to find another job, your future employer may contact them and ask about their experience with you whether it be good or bad.

You'd better go and see your grandmother before she dies. Go on, do it. It's worth it. Go and talk to her and spend time with her. It's bullshit that you have to listen to the old folk. Just do what you gotta do and be a man about it. When was the last time you acted like a man and did what you had to do eh? Come on go and do what you gotta do.

She's ya Grandmother for God's sake. She's probably relaxing at home wishing someone would visit her and if anyone should visit her it should be you, her grandson. Tell your boss that your Grandmother is really sick and she needs to company. Tell that you're going to go to where she lives and that you're going to spend time with her. Tell your boss that today. Don't let him get the better of you because you need to be a man and stand up for yourself.

Just be a man. What's wrong with that? Is there something wrong with telling people that they are in your way and wasting your time by trying to distract you? You gunna let that sh't pass? No you're not. You're going to me a man and tell any son of a b'tch to "Clear my f'cking path ya motherf'ckers! I'm going to see Grandma.!" Don't let anyone get the better of you.

Call in and say there is a family emergency.

Tell them you've tried to find a replacement.

You've done all you can on your part.

Tell them you're sorry for the inconvenience but there is nothing else you can do.

I would call now though, leave it too late and it's considered rude..

But that's all you really can do.

You should most definitely go to work! With the economy as it is you can't afford to lose your job! see your grandma on a latter day or after work!
