Question:
Did my boss cross a line?

My boyfriend comes to work with me at a bookstore on my short 4-5 hours shifts. My boyfriend and I are new to the area, so we don't really go out without one another, and we haven't met anybody yet to invite for a day out. My boyfriend spends the time browsing for new books to read, drinking coffee at the cafe, and applying for jobs online. My boss came up to me in the middle of the store, people within ear shot, and asked me if my boyfriend was stalking me, and if I wanted him to throw him out or something.

I was offended because of how he executed the question, and after he knew that my boyfriend walks me home every night (since I feel uncomfortable making the trek alone). My boyfriend had also only stayed for four shifts, hardly enough to be even suspected for stalking. After that my boyfriend stopped coming with me because I felt really embarrassed. What do you think? Did he cross a line by ASKING me to confide in him?

Yes in a way he did, my opinion is it wasn't necessary to even doing such a thing since our boyfriend

didn't cause any trouble. As far as him making the comment is ear shot, he did cross the line

and definitely rude. Have a talk with him and inform him that he walks you home and such, give details

and how bad you felt by him acting the way he did. Be polite too since he is your employer.

I think your boyfriend crossed the line.

He has no business being there for 4-5 hours.

The store is a place of business, not a recreation center. I see he got the message.

I think he crossed a line especially knowing that you two are together. If he was concerned, he could have asked in a different way. It's none of his business what you do as long as it's not interfering with your work then he was way out of line.
