How long does it take for an employer to view your resume?

How long does it take an employer to view your resume? I sent my resume to three companies about 4 to 5 days ago. Are they not interested if they have not asked me for an interview? I sent off really good resumes and cover letters. My communications professor has said that they are really good. Should I contact them for the status of my application?

Employers do not look at each resume as it arrives. They look at them when they have a heap and compare the applications. They then decide whom to interview.

Not yet. Give it 10 working days then enquire.

It could take a few weeks for them to respond, because they get so many resumes. That is, if they respond at all. Do not contact them.
