Question:
Should I apply in person for a job at a coffee shop, or email my resume as the ad states to do so?

There is a barista job that is advertised on craigs list that I am interested in

Part of it says this,

*** Please write us an introductory email or cover letter with your resume attached including your availability.***

The ad was just posted today, and I have time to possibly go to the store in person to apply and hand in my cover letter and resume..

or should I just do as it says? Would it look better that I have come in person right away, the day that is has been posted?

Follow directions - then drop by and make an impression. You never know what's in the mind of the hiring manager. HR has historically been known to post job positions with instructions simply to weed out people who cannot follow directions. If an applicant is unable to do what they're told, there is some speculation that they will be uncontrollable, inattentive to detail or just not focused. That may not be the intention of the hiring manager for this particular job but its better to be safe than sorry.

Follow the directions... then you should stop by the shop, buy an espresso and ask to speak to the manager. Introduce yourself and mention that you recently applied for the position and just wanted to introduce yourself and try the espresso. (This shows you're taking initiative to try their products - especially if you one day hope to work there) Also be sure to comment on something positive about the shop while you're there - be genuine but find something positive to mention...whether it's the decor, the coffee, the service etc... make an impression and you'll get the interview.

Send in the information that's requested, but also go into the store and drop off at least a copy of your resume. Sending the information by internet gives it a better chance of getting into the right hands. If you only take your resume to the store, you get to interact face to face, but your resume may end up on a backroom table, buried under paperwork. Doing both will give you the benefits of both without the limitations.

Always do what the job posting says. Send an email, and then a few days later stop into the store and check on the status of your application.

you in basic terms address it to the govt. in basic terms walk in and hand the utility form in. i've got in basic terms ever utilized for shop jobs as i don't have the different proper journey and that they gained't supply you of undertaking in an workplace without journey. i've got had extra than a number of journey with interviews now and handing in utility types. i would not call the jobs you point out low end jobs as a number of those companies pay a lot. i understand somebody who became working in a baby day care and he or she went to artwork for Tescos because it became extra pay. you will no longer discover undesirable artwork rigidity turnover i do no longer think of in this financial climate, we are all protecting onto even rubbish jobs to pay the charges understanding there arn't many roles obtainable. i could like to artwork in an workplace quite you will desire to have have been given a sparkling activity earlier you stop yet because i do no longer understand your concern i won't be able to choose. i'm a shy guy or woman so i discover handing in applications complicated. as quickly as you finished it a pair of times it quite is going to likely be no longer something, each and everything could be conquer with journey. all the main suitable desire you have success activity searching

You could take one in person, it might look good and give you an edge if you have good people skills. just say "I was heading this way anyway so I thought I'd drop one off", otherwise just do as the ad says and email.

ETA don't go between 11 and 14.00 as they will be busy with the lunch rush and not appreciate being disturbed!

It will look better if you follow what the ad says. I wouldn't hire someone that could not follow simple directions.

If they asked you to e-mail it, then do so.

Then if they want to see you in person, they will request you come in for an interview.
