I was offered a position with a new company today and will be calling to discuss with their HR tomorrow, almost certain the conversation will focus around compensation.

What type of salary increase would justify jumping ship? Albeit there are many factor involved, what pay boost (percentage wise) would be attractive enough for you salary wise to make the move?

Hypothetically speaking, if I were making 55k in my current job (already which factoring in the benefit difference between the jobs), what would be a reasonable salary range to try and negotiate for?

Other details:
- the new job I applied for and will receive an offer for is the same as my current position, so it would be a lateral move (same title) even though the responsibility with the new company would be greater.
- the job has been on the market for 4+ months. They have been looking for someone with the right qualifications for some time now.
- the salary range listed on the new job posting was 55-65k

typically 10-15% is common. if by more responsibility this includes managing others you will need to take that into account. probably justified at the top end of that range.

enable's be straightforward. gamers' wages come from money paid through supporters even if on the turnstiles, procuring souvenirs, paying for television channels or by skill of promotion (which all of us pay for at the same time as procuring products). on the precise of the day (to apply a footballing cliche), the gamers are those who charm to the money so why shouldn't they get it. the prevalent most popular League salary is £12,000 a week, in straightforward words some get the astronomical ones. ingredient is that if someone like, say Madonna or Elton John or Barbara Streisand does a live performance and receives paid thousands and thousands no one bothers. Streisand were given £20,000,000 for a nil.5 hour coach and no one stated a dickybird! places issues in attitude would not it? I agree that nurses, medical doctors and so on do a magnificent interest yet do not forget that those who're on the take by skill of inner most drugs can make a fortune too. a buddy develop into presented £one hundred and twenty,000 a twelve months to nurse interior the u . s ., no longer footballers wages granted, yet a lot more beneficial than NHS paintings force get. John Terry on £130 5,000 a week is the ninety fifth maximum events earner in Britain. That places ninety 4 above him with human beings like Bernie Eccleston (racing) on about £1m a week. do no longer forget that prime earners pay 40% in tax so that they are protecting yiour income tax bill down.

As you may know there are many factors involved beyond base salary increase that are worth considering depending on your personal factors- such as growth prospects at your current and new company, proximity of job location to where you live, stock options, 401k, paid vacation days, management etc.

everything else equal, a minimum of 10% to 15% higher pay is what i have seen i other salary forums (monster etc.) although it is quite likely that there are other differences beyond just pay in your case.

As far as salary negotiations go, you may want to check for sites that provide salary information to use as reference points in your negotiation:

www.payscale.com

www.salary.com

Good luck!
