In general see there are freelance data entry opportunities available which are genuine, but u have to bid for them and compete with the wages and hourly rates. Regular data entry options are good but not very easy to find. I got a small list of some good options, see links section. Workers without experience start at $6.00 an hour and can go up to $11.00 an hour in larger cities. Experienced data operators earn between $7.50 and $17.00 an hour, depending on the field.

Also there are few home based transcription work, where in you get the data in images or audio form and u need to convert them back in text form and upload.

Here also you'd be competing against people from countries where the hourly rate of pay is a lot lower, so don't expect huge wages for such jobs, but still it might be good enough to start with.

here are some useful links and resources to start with, they are all free to join and seems legitimate so far.

P.S. sign up with a new id else u might receive lot of junk mail in your mailbox.

You might want to look into some on-line medical transcription schooling. I don't know which ones have accreditation, but those would be the ones you want to check into. For one, they have financial aid available and some award Pell grants. For someone on disability benefits, a Pell grant is something you would be eligible for. I believe they have accredited on-line medical coding and billing courses, also. These jobs, all done from a computer, can be done at home. It would take you some time to learn the skills needed for any of these jobs, but they are legit. There is also something else called, Scopist. This is an assistant to a court reporter (stenographer) who is responsible for reading their notes, typing them out, editing & proofing, and composing the final copy. You might be responsible for one or all of the above duties. It would all depend on the reporter you were working for & exactly what she needed from you. There are also schools on-line for this. Once again, you need to find schools with accreditation. If you are the least bit interested in any of these things, you should go seek out a site for these careers. There are several with chat lines & you may be able to talk to people who have taken on-line courses or just simply go check out some of the on-line schools and E-mail them with questions.
