I am 22 and living with my parents, I have a left Cognitive disorder which means you can't retain new Information easily, it's a learning disability. I am horrible with math and if I went to college I would have to do take special classes and then work up to college classes and I need to find a career without having to go to college or a quick class to get a job faster. Everywhere I go they are only accepting apps and I just feel so bad. Does anyone have any ideas for someone good with art, and caring for people? I'm really great at being emotionally supportive for others, and patient. All answers would be great.

The job market sucks. It doesn't matter if you have a degree or not, a lot of people are looking for work and that means that applying for jobs is competitive right now. It took me 5 months to find a job, and that was after graduating from college. The most important thing is to not get discouraged...keep applying. Apply for everything, including retail and fast food. Any job experience is better than none so even if you don't land your ideal job at first, you can use it as a stepping stone. Secondly, turn in applications in person, attaching your resume. The internet makes it easy for employers to receive hundreds of applications, but turning you application in and seeing the manager face to face proves how much you want it. Dress nice! Even if you're only dropping your application off at McDonald's, dressing professionally is another way to prove to employers that you really want to job.

Finally, as far as your learning disability is concerned. If it doesn't affect your ability to perform a job, then hiring managers can not discriminate. But you might want to look for positions in private art schools, after-school programs, day care, etc.

GOOD LUCK!

Reach out to an agency that deals with such people that need caring people to teach the disabled an art course.
