One of the disadvantages of working for a large company is that your job may be very specialized or specific to one area. This could limit the variety of experiences you get at a large company and could hurt you in the future if you try to change jobs. However, this is not always the case. I think it is up to the employee to request more responsiblity so that your experience will be more varied. Also, in a large company, the mere size of the company and the organizational structure can be overwhelming and could take time to get used to.

Some of the major advantages of working for a large company are the benefits, the name recognition, salary, stability, and access to technology.

I Think the advantages are the possibility of moving to different jobs, and also a larger company is more likely retain employees during a bad bush economy. Working with people like ME=))

For disadvantages, Lack of reconigition, working with people that don't actually do anything, or sleep all night instead of working.

They will pay you an average salary which is based on a 40 hour workweek. They will slowly ratchet your hours up to 50+ without you noticing, and without a salary adjustment. All the while the CEO, CFO, and board of directors rake in millions upon millions of dollars. For example, Michael Dell makes about $16,000 per hour, while his employees in China get paid $4.00 per day. Not a bad deal . . . at least for Dell.

You might be a lot happier at a smaller, family owned business. It is a lot easier to get time off, and just better all around.
