is this right? or unfair?

i closed down my bank account n told my work the new account number *** friday when i ment 2 b payed my money wasnt there i contacted my work they told me they had payed into my old account which was closed down. they sent me a giro for half of the money telling me that it will b sorted out the following week.
following week *** pay day the money was not in my account again and on my wage slip they hadnt sorted out the money 4 the week before and they had taken the giro money out of this weeks payment i contacted them again they had payed the money into the old account again but this time they werent going 2 give me a giro till the money had been returned by the bank.
i told them i had no money because of there mistack and that i would not b able 2 go to work as i wouldnt have the petrol to get there. i walked off site to sort it out and went 2 bank they told me the money had been returnd. now they are giving me a diciplinary 4 walking off site but it was cause of them i did it!!!!!

always try to remember that people have there on lives,an unless you just keep on tell them over an over you will just get lost,if have been with this job long try one more time to let them no your not mad just can:t make it without your check every week,if this job is less than a year old,find another one because it sounds like this may happen again. What is happening to you vis-a-vis the money owing is unfair, and the company should cancel its direct payment and issue a manual cheque.

This can be done, confirmed, and a cheque issued in 24 hours. This is often done as people change accounts and it can take an employer's direct payroll company 3-4 weeks to correct it.



I am not sure I understand something- If you walked off site, that implies you were at work. I would guess you already had the petrol to be there, so you should have stayed to work it out via telephone and fax with your bank and employer - calmly and professionally. It wasn't right to walk off site - it shows a very unprofessional way of dealing with a bad business situation.



I would suggest that you request a closed-door meeting with your manager to calmly discuss the situation and convey the absolute hardship and fear the money mix-up caused. You can acknowledge (they like this!) that it takes time to process employee changes, and that you understand it was not their intention to cause any problems, but you feel that the issue should have been checked by payrole before the next payment was made. Also, you can request that the disciplinary action be reviewed.



If none of this works, and you don't have your money, this is not a company you would really want to work for - start looking again!

You should have left the old account open to run along with the new account until your company got the account to which they sent your pay corrected - that way you would have received your pay. Once your company got it straight, then you should have closed the old one.

You have a job and you are required to do the job and follow the rules of your employer. Your employer is not your mom or dad, and you were not authorized to leave your work site. It was in fact not "because of them" you did it - you did it because you were angry with them and so you stomped off without permission.



They were within their rights and did the right thing to enforce the rules of employment. After.all, they could have fired you instead. So they were being fair in that you violated the rules of employment, but they understood that you were upset over a pay issues that they contributed to with their mistake, so instead of being so severe as to fire you, they disciplined you and let you keep your job.

Well it sounds to me like a couple of mistakes in the payroll office caused the whole matter. Provided you followed the correct procedure in changing your direct deposit account with the payroll office. But, you know the old saying... Two wrongs don't make a right.

You should have called your bank during lunch, or on a break. In addition, you should take your payroll matter up the management chain. Inform your manager about the problems with payroll and how they're going to affect your personal and work life. He/She should take it up with payroll. If you can't get it resolved in a resonable amount of time and they're just not working with you, I would reccomend finding a new job, and reporting them to the police or any other law enforcement agency that can help you get your money. You can also report them to agencies like the better business bureau.

You say petrol, I want to let you know it is much the same here in the USA where we call it gas.

The only reason that they could get away with the disciplinary is because you didn't go up the chain of command at work to get the needed time off to settle the problem.

You should have continued to use both accounts until you knew your money was getting to your new account. With a little management on your part you could have prevented your own problem. Your work place is following their own policy dealing with someone who didn't go to work. If you didn't have money for fuel then you could have got a ride with someone who understood your problem. i think it is right because u shopuldnt have changed your account withount notifying someone first especiaslly the people who sends your money to that accout.Even though u may have told thetm the first time they messed up u changed your accout it still could have been posable for them to make the second misktake because they a so use to sendend the money to your old accout so next time u think about changing your accout make sure u notify your job first.

it is unfair and total crap i understand cuz i'm in the hole on my account so if i put any money in there it eats it right away. and now i don't have a vehicle to even get to work so i may get fired go figure
