I recently was told by my boss that I deserve more money than I make, reason being the girl who's place I took was making $7.00 more an HOUR, and I basically do the same job. We have a huge Corportation so, my boss's hand are tied as for to give me more money. She asked Corporate and they said the would give me .75c more and HOUR. Should I look elsewhere?..

Yeah, you need another job. Your boss sucks.

My hubby had the same problem. He was promoted when someone else left the job at a much lower rate than the person who left was making. His boss constantly told him he should be paid more but wasn't the one able to give him the raise. After years of proving his worth his boss finally got together with somone in human resources and approached the owner of the business and got him a big raise. He's still not making as much as the person who left was but he definitely feels it should have been approached sooner. I would talk to your boss and see how much weight he/she pulls in this decision and see if there's someone who he can bring in on your side. In the meantime, work your little tush off and prove to them what you are worth. Leaving and going somewhere else isn't necessarily going to get you the money you want either. Do your research. Find out what your kind of work normally pays before you just quit a sure thing.

You may be worth more but you have to weigh your benefits and pay against other jobs out there. You dont want to find a new job that pays more but has less to offer you. Maybe you can question how they paid more to a person whose place you took. If all else fails start looking but dont give your job up without something to fall back on.

Try talking to them about raises and see how long you have to wait to start making more besides the $ .75 per hour more. If you are newer to the comp then the person whose place you took maybe the want to feel you out more before spending more on you.

If you really like your job and it the pay would not have bothered you without your boss telling you that you deserve more decide if its worth staying.

Yes I have been in your situation once. I found out that I had to start 1 hour earlier than my predecessor plus work Saturday mornings and with more duties thrown in. I was also getting less than her so I just found another job that paid me more. Don`t rely on it but if you give your notice in (make sure you have another job first) thay may up your pay if they think they may lose you. But if you need the money be prepared to go.Don`t make threats as they may get rid of you anyway.

ride it out see where it goes. if you get no notice of a pay increase better than 75 cents then go ahead and look around o a company that would be happy to pay someone what they are worth.

my boss told me the same thing and he got us $1.50 and hour raise. okay i gues but other in my industry make much more on average about $8 more an hour. so I'm moving on.

take care of yourself you owe the company nothing more than you give them everyday.

Are you happy? Would you look if you didn't know about the other persons pay. Can you pay your bills? and most importantly are you happy. I would rather make low wages and be happy as long as I could pay my bills then have a bigger paycheck and hate my job! Good Luck! ( do you know for sure how much the other person made?)

well 75 cents is better than a dime or quarter as most do that but accept their offer and secretly look for a better paying job economy is tuf tho now;. the fact ur getting it is praise and good on a resume.. that when u go for an interview you can be proud .. your well liked .. and done good.

It never hurts to look elsewhere but I wouldn't get rid of my current job until I found something better.

First of all, you spelled they're wrong. It's a contraction - they are. So based on that I would say they shouldn't give you a raise and you are lucky to have the job you have.

Ask for matching salary. If they say no, don't pout, look for another job.
