I recently applied to Walmart for a cashier job and I m supposed to go to orientation tommorrow, but somehow they end up telling me I have a maintenance job when I didn t even apply for that position. Is there a way I can fix this or am I stuck with this

Apparently that's what they need right now. Get your foot in the door but let them know you are interestedd in moving to cashier.

If you're willing to do the maintenance job, do it. Walmart is known to be willing to move good workers from one role to another, if the worker is interested, so once you're in this job and doing it well, you may have the chance to either move up within maintenance, or else move into a cashier's job or floor staff or etc.

In addition, if you're interested in taking this job, once you have some work experience in maintenance, you'll be able to apply for better maintenance jobs. For example, once you've done this job for a while, you could apply to custodian jobs at the local schools and universities - and those are *union* jobs with benefits and etc. You can also apply to maintenance jobs at apartment complexes, in factories, etc. So if you're interested... this job could actually lead to better things that a cashier job normally leads to. But it's really up to you.

What a ridiculous anonymous troll question. Staff may be moved from cashier to shelf filler but no cashier would be moved to maintenance as they would not have the required skills.

you can speak w/a superior, but if they need maintenance people more than cashiers, then you either take that position or look elsewhere
