Yesterday I was offered a job and I told her I would like to consider it and get back to them on Thursday. The HR said she won't be around Thursday and asked me to reply by Wednesday(today). As of now, my mind is still in a whirl and am not ready to give them an answer. Is it ok to call to ask for an exension? Will they get the wrong impression?

I would say that it's more than ok to be asking for a couple of extra days. Unless it's a job that you really think you'd love your better off saying no if they say you have no more time. In my experience, most places give 3-5 days depending on the position.

I'd say your best to just say that you need two more days, and you'll let then know friday one way or another. if nothing else, say a couple of family matters came up and you unfortunateally didn't have enugh time to fully consider the postion.

I think that it is OK to ask for a few more days. If they aren't willing to do that then I would not want a job there anyway.
