Dates are one of the most important things on a resume - firstly because it shows prospective employers how long you have been in your various jobs and, secondly, it allows them to see any gaps where you may not have worked which they may wish to ask you about (for instance you may have gone travelling or taken some time out of work to focus on personal matters), Your resume should be a complete record of your professional working history and should be a true account of who you are and what your skills are.

You do have to. If you can't think of the exact dates, go for months and years. Make sure you keep it all the same format though. Don't have exact dates for some and not for others. If you can't think of months either, just put years.

You have to put down dates.

If you do not, the employer will think there is something wrong, and you will not get the job.
