2 weeks ago Monday, i had an interview with Michael's the craft store and it went super well, i;ve had enough jobs to know when the managers like you and i met with both the store manager and a hiring manager, and both liked me. They loved my extensive past in retail considering im only 19; They said they'd call within 2 days. I called after day 2 to check in, and neither were in. I called last monday and the hiring manager said they were interested in me, but i need to call back wednesday to speak with the store manager to get me in asap. I called yesterday and he had just came in and said he had paperwork and all to go through and then was going to call the new hires back. So at the end of the conversation i said "so ill hear back from you in a bit?" and he said "most definitely". And i didnt hear back. I asked a friend whos a store manager and his reasons were SM's are normally really busy, Something had to come up or whatnot. What do you all think?

SM's are always busy, that's their job. Give the SM another day and then call back.

In your call back remind him/her what you bring to the table and why your the BEST candidate. Tell him/her how your services will help the company to grow.

Good Luck!

I used to be a store manager and at times managers ARE really busy doing office work. Be careful, when people would constantly interrupt me asking about jobs and checking on applications I would get very irritated.

Sounds like they are pulling your chain, though. If they haven't offered you the position yet there is a good chance that they gave it to/are considering someone else, or they are just waiting for the more qualified individuals to get back in touch with them.

If I were you I would just wait to hear from them, don't call again. Trust me, if they intend to hire you they will contact you. Calling them too much may ruin your chances, because they well become annoyed by you.

In the meantime, keep searching for other jobs, don't wait on these guys. This type of job doesn't take this much time to go through the hiring process. Sounds like they decided to pass, although They just may be really busy.

When I'm applying for jobs I always consider my treatment during the application/interview process to be reflective of how I might be treated as an employee:

The store manager is too busy to call you back today so will he be to busy to help you solve a problem with a customer or too busy to fix an issue with your pay?

If an employer says "I'll call you in the next 5 days" and doesn't I often think that they are too disorganized or make promises that they can't keep. It makes me quite cautious in following up with them.

Good Luck!

If he is super busy then the last thing he needs to do is hear from you since he is working on something that is more important. Give it until Monday or Tuesday before touching back

Yes, keep calling the employer back. It will show that you're really interested in the job. Do not let it go, it sounds like your very close to getting the job.
