Have you ever been a modern usher in a movie theatre, if so then how do you like it?

I'm soon going to be working as an usher in a movie theatre. I've so far only worked in retail stores as a stock clerk and haven't worked for 3 years so this is going to be a big change for me. I am very uncertain and worrying about whether I will like it or not and if it will be stressful. I'm also wondering if this is the kind of job many people quit because they just can't deal with it anymore.

Yea, what noel said is almost exactly the same as my opinion. I'm working at a new Cinemark that just opened a week ago as a usher and it really is a cushy job, except on the weekends when you really have to bust your butt running from theater to theater cleaning them out. IMO the usher is the best job you can have working at a theater.

Oh I loved being an usher at the theatre. As long as you stay there and not go to concession then you are OK. I hate concession. It is super chill and relaxing. You get to talk to all the employees on floor and not get in trouble for it. Its a slackers dream job but there are days when you have to really bust your ***. Over all it is a pretty cool job.

I've never been an usher, but it seems like a cushy job.

Sell tickets, take their money, tear the ticket in half, point them to the theater, pick up the cups & popcorn containers when the movie ends, sweep or vacuum the floor...etc.

I wouldn't want to work the concession stand--crazy people and all that food & doing money too...Nope wouldn't want that responsibility.

I worked as an usher for a year, it wasn't so bad. The "jobs" rotate, one day you'll do tickets, another day concessions, another day ushering, as in making sure people aren't disturbing movies and cleaning up afterwards.

I didn't ever have two much stress, but being the person who tore the ticket up and told you were to go- OMG that sucked it was so BORING.

My favorite was tickets :D
