I just graduated high school in June, and I still have no clue what i'd like to do. People have been telling me i'll figure it out, when i figure it out. But what if I never do? I don't want to be 30 years old, struggling to make ends meat when I have the opportunity to go to college. There have been a few careers i've considered, Chef, Web Designer, etc. But there is always something that stopped me from doing them. I'm interested in things that have to do with computers and fitness.
What should I do? I'm worried i'll never figure it out....

You probably won't ever really figure it out, most people don't (that's the dirty secret!). It doesn't just come to you one day like an aha! moment. Your basic information is there - you know you like fitness and technology. That is where you need to focus. If you have figured out a field, then you are ahead of most other kids your age. Most people just need to pick a tract and go down it...hopefully, it is something they end up enjoying or at least find interesting enough to not hate. Soe people gather information by volunteering at a place they think they may want to work (shadowing a nurse or accountant to see what they really do) and that can help a little but not really much (what can you really learn about a profession in just a few days or even weeks?). So you really just need to decide between fitness and technology, then pursue a degree in one of those.

DO you like fitness enough to do physical therapy? good job with good pay. Can your interest in fitness be transferred to healthcare or is it completely different? If you like computers, perhaps get a degree in Computer Science - very nice jobs and high projected demand.

The point is, you will simply need to take a leap into something related to your interests. The exact answer will likely never come to you, and even if it does, it'll change throughout your life.

Best of luck.

I hear you man, Im 26 and have been working retail since I was 16, before that I worked in restaraunts and on ranches. I tried college but hated it, tried the military but was turned down. I know what I want to do as a career and am finally working on it, but what brought me to finally realizing what it was that I would like to do, was just me. I tried taking tests that are supposed to tell you what your jobs would be compared to what you like to do, but I didnt get **** from those. I know there are professional counselors out there that actually help you find your path, but I couldnt find one around where I live.

What I did was just realize what I like to do for fun that I wouldnt mind doing for a career. Usually if you take what you love and turn it into a career, you can end up hating it because it becomes an obligation of sorts. What I suggest is to make a list of what you like to do or would like to do (for fun) and then make a list of what you love, then one of what you know you would hate. The stuff that you hate, naturally stay away from. The stuff you love, really think about if you would risk making it an obligation by turning it into a career. With the list that you like, just try and figure out what there is out there that matches what you like, then study on how to get that career going for you.

Most people have the same problem. "What am I going to do for the rest of my life"

The thing is take a job, say in web design, or to be honest any job you fancy.

The thing is once you have experience, it is easy to take a different career path.

Very few people stick with the one they originally choose.

The important thing is get a job, and get experience of the work place.
