I'm scared to get a job?

I'm turning 16 in a couple days and I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm taking pretty hard classes and all, but I want to get an after school job or something. I am worried it might be a lot of stuff to be doing... but I'm scared to get a job in general. I don't have a car because my family can't afford to buy me one (and I don't have money because no job). But my town is small enough to walk. There's options like the grocery store, the frozen yogurt place, stuff like that. Any advice about getting a job to make me not so scared? Is it normal to be really nerous? And am I too young? Will it be too much work?

There are plenty of retail businesses that hire 16 year-olds, lucky you don't have a mortgage and kids to that can force you to stay at a miserable job, just look at this first one as gaining experience for your resume when you apply for the next job.

Finding a job that matches your schedule may be a bit more tricky. Something like a warehouse or stock clerk at Target doesn't have the pressure of a cashier dealing with the public.

It's perfectly normal to be nervous at first! Once you get the hang of it you won't feel scared anymore. I would also just ask for parttime hours so it doesn't interfere with your school work or just ask to work on weekends. Best of luck!

It's normal to be nervous. Everyone is. I'm 40, just started job and I'm nervous too. It's not that job adds to your work, as it takes away time from doing schoolwork.
