Yesterday I went to work to pick up my schedule and I wasn't on it.. I worked at a gas station I called the manager and she said she had to let me go 'cause I was still slow paced.. and I called in sick late.. it was an hour before I went to work I had a fever and a sore throat.. that was my second time ever calling in and i've only been there three months. I don't understand how I got fired for this I worked my butt off, and I thought I was doing a really good. How do I explain this on a job application?.. Will it affect me getting a job in the future?

Hi , you dont have to tell them you were fired all you have to do is tell how long you worked there and the reason you left being what ever you tell them , when another empoyer inquires about you from the store you left all the can say is the date you were hired and why you left , But they cannot tell them you were fired

Hiring Managers Often Avoid Calling the Former Employer's H.R. Department

What this means is that employers must give references that are completely accurate or they face being sued by former employees. This is the primary reason why so many companies today refuse to give out any information besides:

1.Date of Hire;

2.Date of Separation;

3.Beginning Wage;

4.Ending Wage; and

5.Job Title.

You would explain this is just as you told us. Discuss this as honestly as you can, factually driven not your opinion.

I was let go as the manager cited because she felt I was slow to learn the job, and that I called in late when requesting a sick day.

It was my first job, and I felt that I was training well, and I had gone to work sick a few days, and when it became aparent when the high fever hit that I should request a day off to get better it was not accepted.

I was always ontime, dressed appropriately, friendly and gave my full attention during training, and followed all the companies policies.

I regret getting sick, but I did go in sick until I was unable too, it was my mistake. Honesty can pay off big time as long as you are genuine about it. I added in............going in sick not knowing you were or not, you were coming down with it for a few days.......wink ok

NO, Its just typical behavior from employeers in the USA right now. They want most people to be some kind of superman or superwomen at jobs. Well it depends. Its ok though. No just be honest on the app. If you like fast pase jobs go for what you were doing. If you like slow pace jobs go for something more relaxed.
