I applied for a job at Target on their in store hiring computers on Friday 7/20. Should I call to check on the status of my application? If so, who should I ask for when I call (the manager, etc)?

Ask for the store manager or assistant manager. Thank them for taking your call & let them know that you submitted an application and that you were checking on the status. Ask if they have a time frame in mind for calling people in for interviews & for when they're planning to make a decision. Let him/her know that you're interested in the position...
Simple as that.
You might even want to drop a thank you note to the person you talked to thanking them for taking a few minutes to talk to you about your application.

Yes, wait till Friday, and then call.
I personally do a lot of interviews. For me it is a good sign if someone politely asks about the status of his/her application.
Good luck

i would give it a few more day == if you had to give references they could be checking them -- if you do not hear back by friday i would call and ask for the store manager == he will be able to direct your call if he does not have the information
