Is it okay to cut and paste one's resume on the body of an email message? Or is it preferable to?

attach it (say in Word) to the message? I'm not sure if companies view attached resumes more favorably or if it doesn't matter. I'm, right now, at a library terminal which doesn't have downloaded Office applications so I can't attach what I have to an email. I can though cut and paste the resume info onto it.

I would advise that the body of your email is your letter of application with your CV/Resume as an attachment.



Keep your letter formal and in it, specify the skills and experience that make you right for this job. Be sure to request a "read receipt" then you know what date the recipient has opened it.

I think it is safer to attach it as a Word document. The reason I say this is that if you cut and paste - it might look fine on your end but it might not display correctly on the companies' email application. I have worked in email customer service & I would receive emails from clients with huge fonts or bad formatting because they cut & pasted their text from some other program. It happens.

Absolutely attach it as a Word document. If you can't do it there, find another place to get it done. Under no circumstances should you make your resume the email body.

I'd send it as an attachment that way the formatting doesn't change. Make sure you say something in the email about the attachment or they may not notice it. Good luck!

Attach it. Let them know that you have attached a copy of your resume. Keep it simple.

Just copy and paste it. As long as it gets the message across. Preferably use a fancy font like Old English.

Best to save it as a pdf, then attach it to the email. You can save as pdf from practically everything nowadays - either in the save as, export, or (confusingly at first) print dialogue.

it should be ok if the person your sending to has office, but if not just be safe and copy it to the email.
