What to do after graduating with a useless degree?

I'm starting to get really discouraged. I will be graduating with a useless degree in Theatre in August. Long story, but I don't want to anything with theatre. I work in a produce department right now at a grocery store where working full time I make less than 15k a year.

I would love a job where I don't sit around all day. Heck, I would stay in produce but some shifts start at 3am, not to mention the low wages. I have 30k in student loans to pay off, so going back to school isn't an option.

Anyone out there who can offer some advice? Please don't say teacher...

You look for jobs that only require a college degree, no specifics.



Or, you go back to school and get a certification in something useful. Or, you go back to school and get another degree in something useful.



You might be able to get some sort of secondary certifications in therapy work and go into theatre therapy with children.



Add some marketing credentials and you have all kinds of options for leadership retreats, entertainment coordinators, public relations, fundraising, etc.

A degree in theatre isn't necessarily useless; go out there and look for some jobs, if that means you have to move to a bigger city then do it. I suggest you go on career builder and start creating your resume and searching for better employment. If you don't search, then you will stay in produce.
