Need General Advice “Freelancing or JOB”….?

Hello Guys I’m a freelancer and I do Web Development/Web Design and some Internet Marketing stuff. I’m B.Tech Graduate in Computer Science.

I used to do a JOB in Big Firm and I tried freelancing and after doing well I made it for full time and quit my day JOB. I’m doing really great make more than any my college friends are making.

Now I’ve 2 situations I need advice on (Both are related to each other).

1st : My family always criticize me and says that they spend too much money on my EDUCATION so you can get a JOB and says freelancing is for the people who can’t get a JOB and always compare me with the neighbors boys/girls who are by the way doing ok for now. My family thinks that Freelancing is not good for Long Run and says that I’m wasting my time and I should get a JOB in Established BIG firm and says that BIG firm helps in Medical Insurance, Funds etc.. I don’t know how to convince my Family that I’m doing great and will be okay.

2nd : I moved to the CITY where I live alone and do my Freelancing work. And the biggest disadvantage of this is that I lost contact all my friends and don’t have any friends to hang out with locally. As I’m freelancing I sit home most of the time and don’t go outside much and didn’t get to meet the peoples that much (I want to tough but don’t know where to go I don’t know anybody in CITY) and other than that I can’t make up a work schedule I work whenever I like and due to this there is no fix up schedule for my sleep, food etc. I sleep whenever I feel like and eat whenever I’m hungry etc. I used to be an organized person but can’t help it now.

And this makes me think That "Am I doing right??" or I should Get a JOB so my family will be happy; where I can make friends and get a well scheduled days etc. even though I will stuck with a single salary for the years without much rays.

I’ve lots of things planned for my future and will setup my own firm if everything goes well in future. But these thinking makes me awful don’t know what to do.

Should I get a Job or continue my Freelancing work?? Is freelancing will be good for Long RUN.??
Please advice.

I hope you guys understand what I’m trying to ask here.

Thanks

Time is valuable I won't waste yours, because I respect what you're doing that much. I work as a mercenary, before I joined the army and then a PMC core I worked freelance online. The bottom line is that the freelance industry is now booming and let me reassure you it will still be booming when you're dead. While firms will more than likely pay less and have a **** schedule, they still do not have have the reliability of the Internet. How ow much more likely is it that the Internet will be shutdown rather than a firm? And if you're happy with your pay then stay at freelancing, and don't let you're parents push you into a low income office hell hole. Second even if you get a big firm job then you still will not make many friends (it's nothing about you just firms) they're competitive and vicious as people compete for contracts. As for friends find a hobby bowling, soccer, tennis, football, drinking and join a local club for it the people there will be welcoming. Also try going to a gym and starting a conversation with someone about working out and go on from there. Finishing up in the two years I freelanced I was making 150k on the firt year and 189k the second. Stay in the city stay freelance stay free.

I don't know enough about English culture to give you good advice about how American culture is different. I do have some knowledge of the language differences. It might be a good idea to have an American English dictionary because there are quite a few differences between British English and American English (for example, when someone asks for a napkin in America they aren't asking for something to cover a baby's bottom, fries are the American word for "chips," and if you ask for a torch people might look at you funny because it doesn't mean the same thing here). Also, pay attention to what everyone is wearing and adjust accordingly. That's all I can really think of to tell you. My main piece of advice for you is to not worry too much about it. I don't know about everyone else, but I always love meeting people from other countries here. I'm very into culture and language, so it's way fun to meet foreigners =) Just have fun and enjoy being somewhere new! =D
