So I had an interview for a meat cutting position and just got the phone call today saying they would like to offer me the position. I have orientation tomorrow and they need me to fill a gap quick. He told me that I would fill out some paperwork and whatever else but never mentioned a drug test. If I am correct, isn't a drug test usually before orientation?

No, employment drug tests are not done before orientation. The employer does not need to give you any advance notice about a drug test. You may be sent to take a drug test the first day of work. If there are any drugs in your system you can forget about working there.

Drug tests, if they require one, are done before orientation on a conditional job offer. Not every place requires a drug test before they will offer you employment, it varies from place to place. If it was part of the offer, you would've been made to go already within 24-48 hours of the offer.
