You know what i totally agree, i work at a call center in canada and of all the callers i get...the majority are american..and the first thing they say is "im glad to be talking to a person who can speak english and isnt indian" far be it from them to know that im actually indian...i cant stand americans that are so rude and selfish and think the world revolves around them...mind some americans are nice..the others...and some of the language they use..i really hope they dont use that same mouth to talk to thier mothers

That is a good question. I am an American, ex-Air Force, and have a degree. I worked abroad half of my life, and hanging out with the European crowd, learned that most americans were loud, and obnoxious. They showed me by example. We were hanging out in Madrid, and sure enough, the loudest table in the restaurant came from Americans. Are they rude? Maybe so. Still, the Americans are always the first to respond to tyranny, to mafias, and terrorist issues. Many an American, has given their life to help another country survive. Canada, is a very rich dear friend of America, and the Canadians have more than once come to our rescue. Are Americans rude? Yes. Guilty as charged. But, just know, we are there when, and or if you need us. But why are Americans rude? Our government seems to have forgotten us. Our own brothers starve, most jobs are outsourced to India, Russia, or China. I dare you to find a wire barbeque grill brush that is made in America. Americans have lost a lot of confidence in themselves and have become very defensive. I think our country will have to come to terms with what is required to move forward that will boost economy, and jobs before things settle down. Don't know when that will happen, but until then, we'll all probably be a little rude every now and then.

I am an American SGT in the U.S. ARMY. No one country is perfect. I worked in tech support(I only dealt with local people so I m only assuming they were Americans). When dealing with rude people, which was about every 10 calls, I found that when they said VERY rude things to me 3 times and I maintained my professionalism(fixing their problem or not) I always found that they ended up realizing that they were very rude and they ended up apologizing. Is it justified that they should be rude? Of course not. I m guilty of being rude myself, BUT, it doesn t justify ruining someone else s day that really did not deserve it.

SUGGESTION: Ask for a supervisor or even work your way to the person responsible for your ordeal. At least make an attempt to make the person who is accountable work on the issue, and not the people getting paid chump change to make the millionaires richer. BAAAAAMMMM!!!!

BOTTOM LINE: "American s" are rude. PERIOD! We need to stop. No degree needed for that air force guy! Life experiences is all it takes to notice these things. We can and will fix this problem.

THAT S AN ORDER!

I work at a call center in America. I'm inbound as well, I've talked to plenty of nice Americans and have gotten cussed out by Canadians. You'll find jackasses anywhere, especially if you work at a call center. You'll meet plenty of nice and considerate Americans (believe it or not, I find that most of them live in the South) and you'll meet rude and inconsiderate Canadians. I love getting calls from other countries who automatically think that because I am American I am stupid, rude and have no idea on what I am doing.

There are so many different people in the world, and some are going to be more rude and ignorant than others. Just because you met some of those rude people does't mean they represent their country. That's a couple people out of billions and they happen to be American. I'm not the same as people living thousands of miles away and I'm not the same as people living ten miles away. I'm a person, not "one of those arrogant americans". I'm truly sorry that your first impression of Americans was a couple of rude people, but meet a couple million more before you can judge.

I'm sorry you experienced that but it's not that they are entirely rude per say, you said you work at a call center, and most of the time that someone needs to call a call center means that something doesn't work the way it is supposed to. Most Americans get very angry when they feel cheated and respond accordingly. But there are some that are as you say "rude americans" but it is not very common in my experience, and is only due to being improperly raised. Americans often aren't "rude" but more so ill conceived.

Life in the USA is hard even though we are the richest country! The average person is poor and works a lot with hardly any vacation time. There is nothing to look forward to! We are indentured to our student loan debt. We cannot afford health care. And because there is no safety net, we have a lot of anxiety. Lastly, businesses treat American customers very poorly in general. Because of this, most Americans are at the end of their tether and that is why we are sometimes rude!

It is a stereotype. Not all are rude, obnoxious, self-centered, ect. For the most part, our culture does a lot to make many Americans this way, our schools, government, etc. We are required to say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning at school, (which means we give a pledge to the American flag) if we don't we can get into big trouble. I don't do it because I find it stupid and pointless. It is just because of how we were raised and how our schools and government told us how we should act.

I'm sorry that you have had some rude Americans call you. We all have bad days. To tell the truth, it does depend on how you are raised. For instance, I was raised to respect my elders, and to be polite even when I don't feel like it. But, I have some friends whose parents were not around them long enough to teach them manners. My Dad has a quick temper, but he always tries to speak politely to people on the phone because it isn't their fault. And, you can't stereotype. Just because the majority of Americans that you talked to were rude, doesn't mean that you talked to the majority of all Americans.

The bottom line is that anyone proud is proud because they lack confidence. But there is no need to be proud if you are genuinely confident in yourself and have a good and peaceful understanding of the world in which you live. Next time you folks meet a proud person, please feel pity for him/her because such person is in trouble and needs to be rescued. But the correction must begin from you yourself. Be sure not to be the proud type. Remember that a proud person will be aggressive and is never truly happy. Do you know what emanates from the mouth of a happy fellow? Peaceful and thoughtful words. They are respectful, they respect others because they are respectable. But what happens when a respectable person is being insulted by some disrespectful person? He/she sees such person as not disrespectful but as a lost mind, a mind that needs some composure and some sound redirection at life.

Many times when I call customer service personnel they are cooperative, other times they are rude. The rude ones usually started off by being rude then senses some maturity in me but are too disappointed to change to being kind. It would be very odd to them to suddenly turn around and become nice. So they just complete their rudeness. But often than not they turn out to be goofing all through while I smile unnoticeably on my end.

People’s behaviors are the product of who they really are inside. That is why science study things to know how to address things. Peaceful words will come out of a peaceful heart. Same thing goes for aggression and rudeness. Just a reflection of the inside person. Please be kind to rude ones and never feel shaken by their rudeness. You will be shaken if you are same type of person.

That is why most of Americans are not aware of the "Start" button present on the bottom left corner of windows screen and they should be proud of this thing. Every time we guys, from India, have to guide them. You people are so dumb that you even don't have common sense which has become uncommon in your country. We, Indians, only are helping you working throughout clock and working 24*7 , just to help you guys out. Being your military forces, ambulance team or your telephone, we never deny to serve your stupids

I'm really sorry you had those experiences!! It always frustrates me when my fellow Americans travel abroad and are disrespectful. When I travel I try to be as respectful as possible, learn a thing or two about local etiquette, and maybe some of the language too if I can. I know Americans can be difficult, but please blame the individuals and not the whole country! Americans can be very kind people :)

lets always remember this ..it depends on the person... not where they are from! .. all Americans are not rude or bad or whatever some people thinks .. it goes same for all countries .. all Asians are not rude or bad .. all Europeans are not rude or bad .. everyone is not always the same .. same goes for every religion all Muslims are not terrorist .. all Jews are not arrogant and rude .. lets just try to accept people the way they are .. so what if a person can't speak proper English ? is not their national language .. as if we can speak properly their language .. ?? .. this world is weird if you ask me .. there is only two things i can say i.e .. WE ARE ALL HUMANS .. AND WE ALL DESERVE LOVE AND RESPECT .. that what i believe in .. now it all depends upon what you guys think about it .. be the best in you and see the best on others .. if they are rude then just chill who cares .. its a big world .. with different people :) xoxo Deborah

Americans are spoiled and ******* ignorant as ****. They only give a **** about themselves. Just because there are other people coming from other states doesn't mean you should be ignorant. People from all across the world outside of the U.S actually do a lot for America. Just cause you're American doesn't mean ****. I have never seen another ethnicity treat an American like they do to us. Just ignorant and rude.

There are rude people in every country but Americans can be extremely nasty to a point it is unbearable . I was in DC and all of a sudden 7 teenagers walk in the elevator cursing non stop while a mother and her young daughter where pleading with them to stop.

I also worked at Call Center for some American internet/cable company in Canada. We only got incoming technical calls to help people out with their TV , Cable, Internet and computer. I first worked for the New York division. It was hell. I could not believe how mean some people were. All I am doing is helping them and they are cursing at me, telling me off for absolutely no reason. It was so bad that usually you can not hang up. You will get in serious trouble or fired. Since New Yorker s were almost always such assholes we had permission to hang up if they started freaking out to much. One guy got so mad that he passed out. I heard his wife calling 911 I had to stay on the phone lol. Eventually im on for 20mins I hear him talking to the paramedics saying he was being harassed on the phone by telemarketers lol. Seriously that happened. All I was trying to do was fix his internet.

Eventually I got switched to Texan s. Holy ****. The difference was insane. They are so much more polite. I think I only got told off like maybe once a week. While New Yorker s told me off about 2 out of every 5 calls that came in. Eventually I got switched back to New York and quit. I couldnt handle being told off 15 times every day. People would threaten to kill me over the phone. New Yorkers are crazy.

Yes, Americans are rude. I encountered many times when Americans say a foreign word to a native speaker and yell at at the native "what you don't know this word?" Duh, you Americans forget about your bad pronunciation that confuse the native speakers, NOT they don't know the word. Four of us, 2 Mexicans, 1 Vietnamese, 1 Japanese went to Mexico and people were polite and nice. But as soon as we crossed the border back to American side we noticed(agreed) Americans are rude, just the way convenience store clerks talked to us and she was a typical American not any ruder than any others.

You have been in vast apple you bloody asshole! How dare YOU be so rude to to throw something people into THAT classification! and have you ever heard the asserting whilst in Rome ....blah blah...? nicely it is going for the US too (and everywhere else). you will assume some NYC Budweiser ingesting asshole to drink your lager in the event that they have been in London does not you? in case you choose English lager stay in England. Or ask somebody who does not drink Bud (like me) the place to get it; reason i'm helpful and can have the two informed you the place to get one, or maybe accompany you for one and pay for it too. it fairly is the way we handle people the place I stay in the rustic. whilst i replaced into in London I definitely do no longer remember all and sundry being overly open and increasing any greater desirable kindness (different than for the bartender at my hotel). yet i do no longer generalize that to all of us in the finished u . s .. guy, what's it with you lumping an entire counties "rudeness" right into a judgment like that? Geesh!

I wouldn't say it were just America, the whole world kinda runs in a system of self entitlement. Plus, Americans are filled with many races of people originating from the other countries and continents. I would say this discrimination when this is not just a country problem(even though its kinda messed up as it is), but a worldly problem. I am sorry if you ever felt abused by Americans, but the job you currently have working at a call center is usually hated on most of the time. I am sure you get hate from a lot of people even if they weren't American. I am not excusing the fact that people have been rude to you, but you really shouldn't single out one crap country out of the rest of the crap countries. Hope you have a peaceful life.^^

a lot of people in america are inpatient and think that everyone should speak english - with a perfect accent. growing up watching a lot of american television(a lot of reality), i can tell you that most people HATE phone services because they want specific immediate results.

*** also not all americans are like this. im biased because i wasnt raised by americans, nor am i american and the people ive dealt with who are american have been the complete opposite of formal and polite. but ive met many nice americans... it depends on where you grew up and who raised you!

The real question is why do all other countries hate us so much? I thought we were the good guys.. + I'm not blood thirsty oil thirsty or a fatass that eats mcdonalds everyday.. I love other countries and don't judge them by the label of their homeland, unlike what you all just did, Of course everywhere I go I'm surrounded by assholes here, so I'm not sure.. Are people really that much nicer in other places of the world? Maybe the whole human race is just one big cesspool

Having lived in America, (NYC) for 14 years I feel that Americans are not so much rude but they do communicate differently to many of us Europeans etc. They are often more direct and active aggressive.

Also it IS a nation of me me me and self self self so it's probably difficult to truly consider 'others' when all you have learned ad a kid upwards is to think about yourself only. I'm not making poor excuses I am just telling it how I see it and basing my views on my several years living and working here.

Hope this helps?

But yes I can totally see why many non-American see them as being rude. TOTALLY! :)

Well, let's think about this for a second. When going to school in America, the most popular students BY FAR are the bullies. The most sought after boys are the jocks who go around beating up on and teasing less popular people. Same with the girls in school. They are just as bad only, they tear people apart with words instead of with their mouths. This next part I am going to state is a fact. I have never heard a single person who has visited, lived in, or was born and raised in another country say that American's are nice. We are anything but, and none of us need anyone from any country to tell us this. We praise cruelty. Everyone's favorite character is always the asshole. We consider "nice guys" as cowards even though a coward is a coward and nice is nice but, that is besides the point. Facts don't matter to Americans. Women, well after the high school years still seek out assholes. They call them "confident" or "assertive." But, when you live in reality (again, Americans hate facts) having your girlfriend/fiance/wife come home from work to clean your dishes isn't confidence. It isn't manliness. It's selfishness. It's the process of passing your **** onto another human being, the same as any coward would. Now, people say they will vote for Trump because he has "balls." Again, no he doesn't. He is just an asshole. Somewhere along the line Americans started mistaking mean for tough. The strangest part about it though is that we all know people who are assholes, who are too big of cowards to ever own up to a mistake or cruel thing they did, aren't actually tough. This is another problem with Americans.

Words will always speak louder than actions here. It doesn't matter how tough you actually are in this country. If you say please and thank you to a waitress, you're a "*****." Basically, even in our adult lives, all most of us are are the kids in school who look up to the boys that go around beating the **** out of less physically capable, way more intelligent kids. This is why we have more murders in this country every year than any 10 countries you can name combined. This is why we have more violent crimes in American per year than any 50 countries you can name combined. This is why we think people like Trump would make a great president. He is dumb as a brick. He is racist. He is an asshole. And, America loves him for it. Bottom line is we are screwed. We respect assholes for one reason and one reason only. We are stupid as all hell, collectively. Our test scores show it. Our attitude towards one another shows it. Our "guilty until proven innocent" mentality shows it. Our taste in movies, music, and T.V. shows it. We like explosions. We like death. We like a leading male protagonist who beats his chest and shits on the little guy. I am completely ashamed of being an American. We are the laughing stock of the world and for very good reason. We have people like Sarah Palin come damn close to being VP. I know 4 year old children smarter than her and no, that isn't sarcasm. I actually know children smarter than someone who could have been helping make decisions for millions upon millions of people. And again, people said they liked her despite her being a moron because "she has attitude."

The way I look at it, it is a good thing when people point out American's poor attitudes and astronomical ignorance toward everything. It helps me keep my faith in humanity because I have to tell you, Americans sure as **** aren't doing it for me for so, so many reasons. Our dishonest nature and the ability to throw out facts in order to hold on to our shitty little opinions is one of our biggest downfalls. This also fuels our cruelty in a big way. We have no desire to understand. We have no desire to attempt to understand. But, we do have the desire to smash your head in with a rock if you disagree with us, whether we are right, wrong, lying, or just plain stupid.

People are inconsiderate of others no matter where they live. Americans tend to have selfish attitudes and if you cant give them what they want then they blame it on the fact that youre foreign and choose to be mean for that reason. They are on the phone so why would it matter to them that they hurt your feelings? They dont have to deal with the consequences so they are much bolder over the phone.

I think that if calls from call centers were infrequent and soliciting calls in general were infrequent, then people might even welcome the call. Emotionally, what they are experiencing is rebellion. For them to be pleasant, they would have to conform to your expectations of them and they are trying to avoid any connection to you at all. After all, if they feel connected they may do something they don't really want to do, such as buy something. THere are two primary emotional responses in all people to rebellion, anger and mischief. That is why you are experiencing the rudeness. It is only rude on your side of the phone. On their side of the phone, they are also experiencing you as rude.

I suggest you go to this website http://www.reversaltheory.org/RT_TheoryQ&A.htm
