For train crew. I went and took the reading test and passed with 100%, and just got called yesterday for the interview in a week. The position is in a very rural area, so i am just wondering what to expect in the interview, what kind of question they will ask, how much competion to expect for a very small town? The postion does not even close until the end of the year, so what is the deal with doing a hiring session before the end date? And im only 18, so does that realsistically hurt my chances of getting on with them. I dont have a family or anything, i love working long hours and traveling around, so not being home alot is no big deal, but if anyone has gone through this then let me know. Thanks for everything. Bobbie

The UP employees that I have spoken to said that they'll sit you guys down in a room together and tell you everything about the job. The good, the bad, the ugly, they want you to know what you are getting into. Long hours, no social life, wierd hours, being stuck to a phone 24/7 so you can answer when a called for a job, dangerous conditions, hard work, etc, but it sounds like you already know that. Probably about half the people will leave right there. Then you'll spend the whole day interviewing and doing more tests. Throughout the day, they'll tell people to leave that they don't want. You'll have to do reading tests, drug tests, eye test, physicals, etc. At the end of the day there will probably be only 5-10 people left. I doubt that it's a small town will make much of a difference on who shows up, normally they do these things at set dates so that all people within that area or state that applied before it will attend.
