I have just moved to us and I am current looking for a job. I was doing IT job before and have three years experience in an international company. Now I am very confused because I got several call from different company about the job opportunity. I have answered all the question they asked. For now it has been already two week I haven't got any interview request . I don't know why? Is it because they think I am not the right person for the job or I have still need to wait for the interview. How long does it takes normally ?Anyone can help me with the question ? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Normally 2 weeks, but there are exceptions.. exceptions like you are runner up and the person who took the job quit or didnt show up for some reason, then it may be more than 2 weeks.

Of course, that assumes you had interviews already (meaning they know you can work in the US without sponsorship, etc)

Keep applying,in your case, consulting may be the way to do it. Many consulting companies are hiring, they are most likely short term, but least jobs are there!

Don't assume you'll get it. Our country is in a recession and there ARE very few jobs available. Each job position usually gets at least 300 applications, you are hardly the only one they've looked at. Continue to look for a job elsewhere.

I've been job hunting very hard for 10 months. In all that time I've had two phone interviews and one in person interview.

Do you have a green card to allow you to work in the US?
