Both Canada and the US are suffering job losses and there is growing pressure to stop foreign labor. Why would a US or Canadian company pay for a foreign worker's visa, do months of paperwork, etc. when there are millions of unemployed Americans/Canadians applying for the jobs? They don't meet requirements for applying for foreign workers' visas when they have citizen-applicants anyway. If there were a job for you, you would have received a response from somewhere you applied. Without a job, you cannot come, you cannot get a visa. Note that many work visas are not being renewed or are being terminated outright as companies cut back on employees. Those people are required to leave immediately. Also many here legally, and especially illegally, are just leaving, returning to their own country, since there are no jobs for them and taxes and the cost of living is very high.
